Why Our Ghee Is Different

🐄

Pure Cow Milk Ghee

Made entirely from fresh cow milk — no blending, no shortcuts, no substitutes. Every jar is pure ghee from start to finish, just as it has always been made in Indian households.

Traditional Bilona Method

Made using the traditional Bilona process — milk is set into curd, hand-churned to extract butter, then slow-cooked into ghee. This preserves the natural aroma, colour, and nutrients that commercial methods lose.

🚫

No Additives or Fillers

Pure ghee and nothing else. No vanaspati blending, no vegetable fat, no artificial colour or flavour. Every jar contains only what ghee should — pure clarified butter fat from cow milk.

🔥

High Smoke Point

Ghee has one of the highest smoke points among cooking fats — around 250°C — making it ideal for deep frying, sautéing, and high-heat Indian cooking without breaking down into harmful compounds.

🔬

Quality Tested Every Batch

Every batch is tested for purity and adulteration before it is packed and dispatched. We check fat quality and composition to ensure every jar meets our standard — no shortcuts, no exceptions.

💚

Rooted in 40 Years of Wellness

Roots Veyr is built on four decades of naturopathy. Ghee has always been central to Ayurvedic and natural healing — we treat it with the seriousness it deserves in every jar we make.

From Source to Your Kitchen

🐄

Fresh Cow Milk

Sourced from healthy cows and brought in fresh — the quality of the milk directly determines the quality of the ghee

🥛

Set into Curd

Fresh milk is cultured and set into curd overnight using natural cultures — the first step of the traditional Bilona process

Hand Churned

Curd is hand-churned using the traditional Bilona churner to separate pure butter — the most important step in real ghee making

🔥

Slow Cooked

Butter is slow-cooked on low heat until milk solids separate and pure golden ghee remains — rich in aroma, colour, and nutrients

📦

Packed Fresh

Tested for purity then sealed in food-safe jars immediately — shipped directly to you fresh from production

Why Your Body Will Thank You

Traditional Goodness in Every Spoon

Prepared using traditional methods, ghee contains naturally occurring fat-soluble vitamins and complements a balanced diet.

🌿

Good for Digestion

Pure ghee stimulates digestive enzymes and has been used in Ayurveda for centuries to support gut health, reduce acidity, and improve the absorption of nutrients from meals.

🔥

Safe for High-Heat Cooking

With a smoke point of around 250°C, ghee is one of the safest fats for Indian cooking — frying, tempering, and roasting — without breaking down into harmful compounds at heat.

💪

Builds Strength & Immunity

Ghee contains butyric acid, a short-chain fatty acid that nourishes gut cells, reduces inflammation, and supports a healthy immune system — recognised in both modern science and traditional medicine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Desi Cow Ghee and regular Cow Ghee? +
Desi Cow Ghee is made from the milk of indigenous desi cow breeds that produce A2 beta-casein protein — considered easier to digest and nutritionally richer. Regular Cow Ghee is made from the milk of mixed or hybrid cow breeds. Both are pure ghee made using traditional methods, but Desi Cow Ghee carries the additional benefit of A2 milk.
What is the Bilona method? +
The Bilona method is a traditional ghee-making process where cow milk is first set into curd, then hand-churned using a wooden churner to extract white butter, which is then slow-cooked on low heat until pure golden ghee is produced. This process preserves the natural vitamins and nutrients that are destroyed in commercial centrifuge-based ghee production.
Why does my ghee look grainy or solidify? +
Grainy texture or solidification at room temperature or below is completely natural in pure, traditionally made ghee. It is a sign of quality — not a defect. Commercial ghee is often processed to maintain a uniform appearance. To liquefy it, simply warm the jar gently. The quality and taste are not affected in any way.
How should I store ghee and what is the shelf life? +
Store ghee at room temperature in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Refrigeration is not necessary and can cause condensation. Always use a clean, dry spoon to avoid introducing moisture. Shelf life is 9 months from the date of manufacture when stored properly.
Is ghee suitable for people who are lactose intolerant? +
Yes, in most cases. During the ghee-making process, milk solids including lactose and casein are removed, leaving behind pure clarified butter fat. Most people who are lactose intolerant can consume ghee without any issues. However, those with a severe milk allergy should consult their doctor before consuming any dairy-derived product.
How long does delivery take? +
Orders within Tamil Nadu are delivered in 1 to 3 business days. Orders to other states take 3 to 7 business days. All orders above ₹499 qualify for free shipping. You will receive a tracking link once your order is dispatched.
